Thank you for your interest in the Garden Club of Manchester Scholarship Program. We are proud to support students who are passionate about the environment, horticulture, conservation, and related fields of study. Before completing and submitting your application, please carefully review the eligibility requirements and scholarship guidelines below.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must:

• Be a graduating senior from Burr and Burton Academy, Long Trail School, or be homeschooled while residing in one of the Burr and Burton Academy sending towns: Danby, Dorset, Dover, Landgrove, Londonderry, Manchester, Mount Tabor, Peru, Stratton, Sunderland, Wardsboro, Weston, or Winhall.

• Be a full-time legal resident of Vermont. Unfortunately, international and exchange students are not eligible.

• Have been accepted to and plan to enroll full-time at an accredited four-year college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for the upcoming academic year.

Eligible Areas of Study

Applicants should plan to pursue a degree in one of the following fields or a closely related discipline:

• Agronomy

• Agriculture Education

• Floriculture

• Horticulture

• Landscape Design

• Botany or Biology

• Forestry

• Wildlife Science

• Plant Science or Plant Pathology

• Environmental Science

• Environmental Conservation

• Environmental Engineering

• Ecology or Ecosystem Studies

• Habitat Restoration

• Land Management

• Natural Resource Management

• Urban or Rural Planning

• Sustainability and Environmental Studies

• Other related agricultural, horticultural, environmental, or conservation-focused fields

Scholarship Award & Distribution

The scholarship recipient will be selected and notified before the end of their senior year and may be invited to participate in a press release recognizing their achievement and distributed to the local media.

The Garden Club of Manchester Scholarship is awarded in the amount of $4,000. Scholarship funds are distributed directly to the recipient's college or university after the successful completion of their first semester.

To receive the scholarship funds, recipients must provide:

• An official first-semester college transcript

• Proof of successful completion of a full-time first semester in a qualifying field of study

• Verification of full-time enrollment for the second semester in an approved major

The Garden Club of Manchester Scholarship is awarded annually in June, with funds distributed after the recipient has completed their first semester of college. Along with your completed application, please submit your school transcript and letters of recommendation.
